Sensory Wellbeing for SEND Families
Do you need more support with your sensory child? Are you neglecting your own sensory needs as a parent carer? Alice Hoyle Author of forthcoming book Becoming a Sensory-Aware School:
A Toolkit to Develop a Whole School Approach for Sensory Wellbeing and sensory Mum of a sensory+ child is offering an interactive workshop on sensory wellbeing for the whole family. We will consider our 8 senses (we have more than 5!), what Sensory Wellbeing is, reflect on the sensory profiles within our family, consider the window of tolerance and our sensory thresholds. We will explore what Sensory Welldoing is and adopting a 'common sensory approach'. We will also explore how to advocate for our child's sensory needs at school.
30th Sept 6.30pm-8pm ONLINE. (1 hour presentation followed by 30mins Q&A)
To attend this session you will need to have signed up for a ticket as a member of Sefton PCF and fill in a form to help Alice tailor her talk. The form will be emailed to you once you get a ticket and supply us with your information.
If possible you will also need a secondary internet enabled device with a touch screen such as a phone or tablet to enable to you to interact with the presentation (you can switch between screens but some people find it easier to have two). Bring a notepad and pen to note down some of the signposting and a hand out will be sent out after the session. A link will be sent out before the session.
Please do not share this link with anyone else- they would need to sign up to access the session themselves. The session will not be recorded and will not be made available afterwards.
Please also bring something you would be happy to share on screen (family appropriate!) of something that brings you sensory joy- for example your fave shower gel, a flower, a fidget, a lemon (Alice has a story about getting sensory support from a lemon in hospital!!)
